In today's digital age, security and convenience are paramount. Traditional passwords, while common, often fall short in both areas. Enter passkeys—a modern, secure, and user-friendly alternative. Here's how users can log in to Blue Honor Line using a passkey.

What is a Passkey?

A passkey is a digital credential that allows users to authenticate themselves without needing to enter a username or password. Instead, it uses a pair of cryptographic keys: a public key and a private key. The public key is stored on the website's server, while the private key remains securely on the user's device.

Benefits of Using Passkeys

  1. Enhanced Security: Passkeys are resistant to phishing attacks and data breaches since the private key never leaves the user's device.

  1. User Convenience: Users can log in using biometrics (like fingerprint or facial recognition), a PIN, or a pattern, making the process quick and easy without having to remember a password.

Steps to Log In Using a Passkey

  1. Initial Setup:

  • Sign In: First, the user is either invited or can request a one-time time access code to create a passkey. This is only sent to their organization email address.

  • Create a Passkey: The user is prompted to create a passkey. This involves the website generating a challenge and the user's device creating a public-private key pair.

  • Anonymous: The server does not link the passkey to the user, but instead links it to the issuing organization.

  1. Using the Passkey:

  • Visit the Website: When the user visits the Blue Honor Line again, they are prompted to log in with a passkey.

  • Authenticate: The user authenticates using their device's biometric sensor, PIN, or pattern.

  • Access Granted: The Blue Honor Line verifies the public key and grants access if the authentication is successful.

Compatibility and Support

Most modern browsers and operating systems support passkeys, making them a versatile option for users across different platforms. However, it's always a good idea to check compatibility with your specific device and browser.

If your browser does not appear to support passkeys then we recommend upgrading the latest Operating System and web browser updates.
